Under the overall guidance of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shenzhen Stock Exchange, and Beijing Stock Exchange jointly revised the Guidelines for the Preparation of Sustainable Development Reports on January 30, 2026.
These updates further refine environmental disclosure requirements and provide clearer, more practical guidance for listed companies.
The new provisions focus on three core areas:
1. Risk and opportunity identification: systematically setting out key risks and opportunities for each topic, including environmental compliance risks in production and operations, as well as market opportunities driven by green technology applications.
2. Standardized calculation methods: establishing clear calculation processes for disclosed data, covering pollutant emission statistics, comprehensive energy consumption calculation, and water intake and consumption measurement, to improve data comparability and reliability.
3. Clearer disclosure requirements: specifiying key disclosure items, such as the impact of emissions on local communities and employees, energy and water conservation targets and implementation progress, and resource recycling performance, helping listed companies strengthen sustainable development management and enhance transparency.
